Relation buys northeastern agency

Relation Insurance Services Inc. has bought The SIG Insurance Agencies, a Stamford, Connecticut-based commercial, employee benefits and personal lines agency, Relation said Wednesday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

All SIG’s 65 staff, including Brian Rogers, president of the company, and John Cody, chief operating officer, will join Relation, the Walnut Creek, California-based brokerage said in a statement.

Founded in 1991, SIG has 12 offices in Connecticut, New York, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Private equity-owned Relation, which was one of the 10 most acquisitive brokerages in the first half of 2021, is the 39th largest brokerage of U.S. business, according to Business Insurance’s latest ranking.
