The Ontario Chapter of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. Thursday presented Catherine Dowdall, director, insurance and loss control, at Toronto-based construction company Aecon Group Inc., with the Donald M. Stuart Award.
The award has been given annually since 1979 to honor Canadians who have made outstanding contributions to the risk management profession.
Ms. Dowdall has been a member of the Aecon insurance and loss control team for seven years and has managed the negotiation and procurement of complex and standalone insurance programs for multibillion-dollar construction projects, RIMS said.
Prior to joining Aecon, she held risk management leadership roles at various companies, including Tim Hortons Inc. and Canada Post Corp.
Ms. Dowdall has held multiple positions on the RIMS Ontario Chapter board of directors, including serving as its president for the 1999-2000 term.
Matthieu Shorgan, senior account executive at Wells Fargo, is this year’s recipient of the Fred H. Bossons Award.
The award honors the risk management professional who earns the highest average mark on the three examinations required to attain the Canadian Risk Management designation.
