Rokstone adds former Liberty Mutual, Starr marine execs

Specialty managing general agency Rokstone Group Ltd., which is part of Aventum Group Ltd., on Monday named former Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. executive Alex Berisha as head of U.S. marine cargo.

Derek Vandermyde, formerly with Starr Insurance Cos., was named underwriting manager, inland marine.

Mr. Berisha previously was vice president, U.S. marine cargo manager, at Liberty. His appointment comes two weeks after Rokstone named former American International Group Inc. executive Mike Nukk head of marine.

Mr. Vandermyde previously was senior underwriter for inland marine at Starr.

The appointments are effective later this month, and Mr. Berisha and Mr. Vandermyde will both be based in New York.

Rokstone said it plans to grow the marine portfolio in North America from a startup to $100 million in five years, focused on middle-market business.
