Sandeep Gopal named AIG’s Chief Risk Officer, APAC

Sandeep Gopal has joined global insurer American International Group (AIG) as Chief Risk Officer, Asia Pacific (APAC).

In his new role, Gopal will lead the Enterprise Risk Management strategy in the region, focusing on strengthening risk governance, ensuring regulatory alignment, and supporting sustainable business growth across Asia Pacific.

Additionally, he will work closely with Chris Colahan, Regional President, Asia Pacific AIG General Insurance, to foster a culture of operational excellence and innovation.

Gopal is joining the insurer following five years at Fairfirst Insurance Limited, where he most recently served as Chief Executive Officer. Before that he served as Deputy CEO following his tenure as Chief Strategy Officer.

Previously, the executive has also held a number of roles at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, including Director CRO Asia Pacific, Chief Executive, Swiss Re International SE Hong Kong and Director, CRO Asia Pacific.

Throughout his career, Gopal has also worked at Allied World, RSA, Barclays, Protiviti and Erix Advisors.
