SiriusPoint appoints Xander Butcher as Senior Underwriter, Energy Liabilities

SiriusPoint, a global specialty insurer and reinsurer, has announced the appointment of Xander Butcher as Senior Underwriter, Energy Liabilities for its London Energy team.

John Hopper, Head of Energy at SiriusPoint, expressed enthusiasm about Butcher’s appointment, stating, “With over 37 years of experience in the market, Xander will be a brilliant addition to the Energy team. I look forward to seeing him make his mark at SiriusPoint and support the strategic growth of our Energy business line.”

Butcher, an industry veteran, brings nearly four decades of experience and expertise in Energy Liability to his new role, making him a valuable asset to the team.

He joins SiriusPoint from Starr Insurance Companies, where he was Head of International Energy Liability. In this role, Butcher managed and developed the International Energy Liability book of business for the International regions from London and at Lloyd’s CVS 1919.

Previously, he was Head of Energy Liabilities at Canopius Group and Head of Energy Liability at AmTrust.

Butcher also spent 18 years at AIG, most recently as Line of Business Owner for Casualty Energy in Europe, and he worked at AXA Insurance Company for over five years.
