Sompo hires underwriting chief from surplus lines insurer

Sompo International Holdings Ltd. on Monday named former Ategrity Specialty Insurance Co. leader John Goodloe an executive vice president and head of E&S casualty for its U.S. insurance business.

Mr. Goodloe was chief underwriting officer of brokerage at Ategrity and one of the founding members of the management team at the Scottsdale, Arizona-based excess and surplus lines insurer, which was formed in 2018.

He will report to Christopher Sparro, CEO of U.S. insurance for Bermuda-based Sompo and will be based in Alpharetta, Georgia, a Sompo statement said.
