Specialty MGA Africa and Middle East, the managing general agent providing additional capacity for specialty lines of business, has appointed Mohammed Rabie as Senior Underwriter for Property and Engineering, based in its Casablanca office.
In his new role, he will report to the Specialty MGA Africa and the Middle East’s Chief Executive Officer, Youssef Fassi Fihri. Rabie will be providing comprehensive re/insurance solutions for construction and engineering ventures across the MENA region, supporting the local insurance and reinsurance sectors by finding additional capacity.
This appointment follows that of Laila El Bahtouri as Treaty Senior Underwriter, and Mohamed Bader Bouanani as Senior Underwriter for Specialty Lines, also based at the firm’s Casablanca office.
Rabie has two decades of experience in the international construction and re/insurance markets. He began his career as an engineer and construction manager at companies including Bureau Veritas France and Mkontrol, before moving into the insurance sector.
He has held roles within the sector, managing and developing the property and engineering business portfolio of AtlantaSanad in Morocco for over 12 years.
Having worked across international markets throughout his career, Rabie brings with him a global network of brokers, agents and insurers across North Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
Manoj Kumar, Group Chairman, commented, “Following the launch of our new unifying brand in April, as part of MNK Group, Specialty MGA is looking to expand its global reach and continue its rapid growth since its inception. Mohammed’s deep technical expertise and extensive experience in underwriting across the construction and real estate sectors within North Africa and the Middle East make him the perfect fit for this role. I look forward to working with him as he helps us to meet our growth ambitions in the years ahead.”
Rabie added, “With its focus on providing clients with innovative and unique solutions to difficult risks, I’m delighted to be part of Specialty MGA as it expands its services in the construction and property sectors. There are significant opportunities across the region, with huge infrastructure developments set to take place in Morocco ahead of the 2030 World Cup, whilst members of the GCC continue to invest heavily in residential developments and energy projects.”
Fihri said, “With Mohammed now part of our team, our clients will greatly benefit from his extensive experience as an underwriter and his deep expertise within the construction and property sectors. His local knowledge coupled with his network of contacts make him well-placed to provide real value to Specialty MGA Africa & Middle East as we continue our rapid growth in the region.”
