Starr launches wholesale agency division

The agency unit of Starr International Co. Inc. Tuesday launched a division focused on wholesale business and said it has hired industry veteran Bob Gadaleta to lead the business.

Twin Maples Specialty will operate as a division of New York-based Starr Specialty Lines Insurance Agency LLC, and will handle business placed through wholesale brokers, a Starr statement said.

Twin Maples will offer professional liability and financial lines coverage backed by A-rated admitted and nonadmitted insurers, Starr said.

Mr. Gadaleta, executive vice president, wholesale commercial insurance, at Starr, was most recently head of insurance at insurtech Nirvana Insurance. Before joining Nirvana in 2022, he spent about 14 years at Hiscox Ltd. and prior to that he worked for 13 years at American International Group Inc.
