The Hanover names Richard W. Lavey as COO

Massachusetts-based insurer The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. has appointed Richard W. Lavey to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).
In the newly expanded role, Lavey will further develop the inusrer’s business strategy to drive integration and collaboration between the business and technology organisations. Additionally, he will enhance agent and customer value propositions.
Lavey retains his current responsibilities leading personal lines and core commercial, which includes the firm’s small and middle market businesses, and its sales and distribution, corporate underwriting, marketing and risk solutions functions.
He has over 35 years of industry experience and brings a deep knowledge of The Hanover’s business, distribution model, having joined the carrier in 2004.
Prior to this, he was the Vice President (VP) of strategic initiatives for The Hartford’s property and casualty organisation and VP of strategic marketing for The Hartford’s Select Customer division. He started his career at The Travelers Insurance Company, and currently serves as Chair of the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI).
