Piggybacking on state efforts to provide employers with warehouse operations guidance on workplace quotas, rest breaks and worker surveillance, the U.S. Senate is now considering legislation that would do much of the same for workers in all 50 states.
At 56 pages, S.B. 2613 would create a “Fairness and Transparency Office” and board to help govern warehouse work and calls on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to create a standard to prevent repetitive motion injuries and provide guidance on workplace ergonomics.
The bill was sent to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions and has not been placed on its calendar.
As of 2025, five states have enacted warehouse worker protection laws: California, New York, Minnesota, Oregon and Washington. Illinois, Rhode Island and Georgia introduced bills this year.
