USAA adds insurance veteran Ross Buchmueller to Board of Directors

USAA, a provider of insurance, banking, and investment and retirement solutions to members of the US military, has announced the addition of a new member to its Board of Directors, Ross Buchmueller, who brings deep expertise in the insurance industry and, as the son of an Air Force veteran, a unique insight into the needs of the military community and their families.

Buchmueller brings over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry, which includes founding PURE Insurance, a specialty firm focused on protecting high-value assets.

Prior to founding PURE, the executive led AIG’s private client group, building it into one of the company’s fastest growing divisions.

He began his career at Chubb, where he joined as an underwriter before earning leadership roles, including head of marketing and sales for personal insurance.

USAA Board Chairman Vice Adm. James M. Zortman, USN (ret.), commented: “Ross’ industry and military acumen will serve USAA’s members well, blending proven business strategies with an ability to innovate to meet the changing needs of the military community and their families.
