Verisk Analytics Inc. said Friday that Hurricane Beryl caused between $2 billion and $3 billion in insured onshore property damage when it struck Texas earlier this month.
The Jersey City, New Jersey-based analytics company said the storm, which made landfall near Houston on July 8 as a Category 1 hurricane after hitting several Caribbean islands and Mexico as a much stronger storm, caused widespread power outages.
In addition, heavy rainfall caused flooding throughout the Houston area and portions of western Louisiana.
Previously, catastrophe modeling company Karen Clark & Co. estimated that Beryl caused $2.7 billion in insurance losses.
