BURLINGTON, Vermont — The Vermont Captive Insurance Association on Tuesday named Ian Davis, senior vice president of captive insurance at M&T Bank, as its next president, effective Sept. 1.
Mr. Davis succeeds Kevin Mead, who recently announced he would step down from the president and CEO role.
The announcement was made at the 40th annual VCIA conference.
Mr. Davis has almost 10 years’ experience in the captive industry. He has served on the VCIA board for the last two years and on the conference and legislative committees and as chair of the annual conference. He also co-led development of VCIA’s 2025 strategic plan.
Mr. Davis’ mother, Lisa Ventriss, was the first full-time president of VCIA from 1997 to 2002.
Mr. Mead held the president and CEO role since 2022. Mr. Davis thanked Mr. Mead for his “remarkable service and legacy of excellence.”
“All signs point to another strong year for the captive industry at large,” Mr. Mead said during the conference general session.
Vermont just surpassed 1,400 licensed captives, he said. “We are once again leading the way.”
