Vermont lawmakers send virus presumption extension to governor

A bill that would expand Vermont’s temporary COVID-19 workers compensation presumption law was sent to Gov. Phil Scott’s desk on Thursday.

S. 9, introduced Jan. 12, would expand the presumption for all workers and extend the expiration date to 30 days following “the termination of the state of emergency declared in response to COVID-19.”

The presumption would be retroactive to Jan. 15.

Gov. Scott in July 2020 signed S. 342, which applied the COVID-19 presumption to first responders and health care workers, among other subsets of workers dubbed as “frontline” workers. That presumption expired Jan. 15.
