Washington state lawmakers are considering a pair of bills that would make correctional officers eligible for benefits if they suffer post-traumatic stress disorder.
H.B. 1070 and S.B. 5043, both prefiled Friday, would add to the state’s first responder PTSD presumption correctional facility workers, including nurses who work in such facilities.
If approved and signed into law, the measure would go into effect Jan. 1, 2026.
