Starting Friday, first responders in West Virginia claiming to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder can get their diagnosis from a certified nurse practitioner or certified physician assistant.
H.B. 2797, which was signed in April and expands the types of medical professionals who can diagnose PTSD, also added language requiring such individuals to hold a master’s degree or higher.
The new law also removes the original PTSD presumption’s sunset clause.
