Wisconsin students win risk management challenge

CHICAGO – Risk management students from the University of Wisconsin-Madison won the Spencer-RIMS Student Risk Management Challenge at Riskworld on Monday.

The team, which took the top prize of $10,000, topped fellow finalists from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, who placed second, and the Institute of Insurance and Risk Management in Hyderabad, India, who were third.

The three teams made their final presentations to the judging panel of risk management experts earlier on Monday, and the results were announced at the Spencer Soriee at the Hyatt Regency in the evening.

This year’s project required the students to compile a risk assessment report for a climate risk case study focused on Huntington, West Virginia. The competition attracted entries from 61 universities in 16 countries.
