Zurich and Klook launch parametric benefit to provide real-time lounge access for delayed flights

Zurich Insurance has partnered with travel and leisure e-commerce platform Klook to introduce FlyEasy coverage, which, powered by Zurich Edge platform with micro-services from Blink Parametric, aims to reduce customer stress from long flight delays at airports.

Available for Singapore residents, FlyEasy offers travellers real-time, complimentary lounge access – available through Blink Parametric’s association with DragonPass network – in any airport around the world whenever their flights are delayed by more than two hours with no claims filing or application processing required.

This service shifts from conventional insurance practices that typically involve numerous claim forms and policy benefits that only kick in after travel delays last more than six hours, Klook and Zurich explain.

FlyEasy leverages the Zurich Edge platform with Blink Parametric to bypass the need for any manual claims processes.

The initiative is also in line with Zurich’s commitment to environmental responsibility with the elimination of any paper receipts and the automation of procedures, setting the stage for the future of parametric travel insurance solutions.

Roopa Malhotra, Head of Customer & Digital, Asia Pacific, Zurich Insurance, said: “At Zurich, we believe in exceeding customer expectations. FlyEasy highlights our commitment to providing innovative and differentiated solutions that address real-time customer needs.

“This seamless, technology-driven approach gives ultimate convenience to our customers, allowing them to enjoy their travels as we provide them with peace of mind and turn inconvenient disruptions into more pleasant experiences – while also relieving them of complex claims processes.”

To access these benefits, Singapore residents who have an eligible policy with Klook Protect will need to register their flight details at least 24 hours before departure on Zurich Insurance’s dedicated FlyEasy platform.

Upon confirmation of a flight delay, the customer will automatically receive a notification email and SMS with a lounge access code. If there is no lounge available at their current location, the access code will remain valid for six months for use at any other airport lounge.

Commenting on this new platform, C.S. Soong, Vice President, Corporate Development, Klook said: “We’ve always put customer centricity as a priority at Klook, and this development is a step forward for us providing a smoother travel journey for our customers together with Zurich.

“We’re rooted in enhancing the overall travel experience by enabling customers to discover and book all they need for their trips on our platform and provide quality at every touchpoint to offer them ease of mind.”
